Being present with self
We are overstimulated
I definitely tend toward Mind Full…
Right, ahh, peace
I need more mindful :-)
I’m on the left, my kayak is on the right.
Makes me think about the pervasiveness of mobile technology - it's difficult for me NOT to turn to my phone in moments of potential mindfulness.
When we allow information to be digested, we have a lens to see things more clearly.
Be mindful of everyone having different experiences, so there is no one size fits all approach.
Grounding ourselves (contemplative mindfulness) is preliminary to service to others.

Mindfulness for me is about witnessing thoughts. Allowing the information to be absorbed and then trusting my intuition on how to take action. Rather than simply reacting out of rising emotions or reacting based on learned behavior, I should do this because X did this when this happened to them.
There are so many strong connections between this work and the best acting techniques. You have to listen with all senses and truly connect (action) with others.

I have a bias towards action.
More toe dipper
Toe dipper but I have a son that is a dive right in and I love that side of him
watch someone else put their toe in.
I’m a dive right in.
Toe dipper! With a lot of thinking and research beforehand!
Fear of being judged or getting it wrong—the unknown—
Not making myself a priority, along with self-doubt, "Can I do it?"
Ah! That is SOOO true, Donna.
Reasoning on the fall out
I think “I don’t have time” needs to change (for me) to “I don’t have time for me”
I have to meditate first thing in the morning, otherwise, my day gets busy and I lose track of time. At night, I get too tired and fall asleep. Now, I wake up 20 minutes earlier and before I do anything, meditate. I do it before I look at email, social media, or cook. First thing.
Actually schedule a time, even if for only 5 minutes. Just do it. Follow through.
As a beginner, how often should I practice mindfulness?
I will need to make a habit of it. Setting a time and set a reminder on my phone.
Can you say more about walking meditation?
I love to journal. I find it a good way to let things go that are weighing on my mind.
My morning coffee and reading my daily devotions
Thanks, that was very helpful!
I’ve been using “Calm” on occasion at night. I’d like to use it more often.
One suggestion is to give up a small time waster and replace it with something more productive. For me, it was sleeping in. Replaced it with meditation.Others might want to give up 10 minutes of social media or something else that no longer serves their higher good.
Thanks Sue - this was great!
